The mind of an Ne dominant is focused on the “what ifs” of life and have it’s focus set on exploring the potential the information that is received in a very tangential way. Se is a function that focuses on a absorbing external data in a very direct way, with a keen focus of one’s surroundings and a very concrete and literal way of processing information. It has an astute and mentally present nature that makes one focus strongly on what is happening in the moment, in one’s immediate environment, and the subtle nuances directly from the information that’s being given to them. While Ne is tangential function likes to jump to and from different trains of thought and look at things from every angle, Se focuses intently in the immediate information being given, tries stay aware of one’s surrounds, and take on physical opportunities as they present themselves, and focus on the here and now. Through the series, Harry is shown to be an opportunist grounded not in the “what ifs” but “what is” and how he can use it to his advantage. His mind focuses on things as they are and tends to jump into opportunities, he never speculates about anything or shows any theoretical considerations when making decisions. He has a very literal and straightforward process relying on objective sensory data.
