The irrational ideas of the social subtype of Type Two form an inner image of a person as all-powerful, exceptional, and irreplaceable. She lives with the belief that she needs no one, because she is capable of doing everything herself, achieving any goal, solving any problem, and knowing what the world needs. In her imagination, there is nothing that could stand against her if she turns her attention to it. She feels as though she knows everything, can do everything, and requires no effort, because success supposedly comes on its own. At the same time, such a person sees herself as superior to others: she believes that everyone around her is behind, on another level, that she is better, more special, more important, and that without her others will not manage. She may perceive herself as the center of the family or even the world — as the sole model, the sole support for her parents, the only one capable of making everyone happy. In her imagination, the people around her are almost like subjects who cannot keep up with her, so it is better for them simply to carry out her instructions. Behind this lies a deep need for recognition and greatness. She is convinced that her significance is defined by how great, outstanding, and special she is. If she is not great, it is as if she ceases to exist: she is not seen, not loved, and becomes worthless. Therefore, she waits for the day when her greatness becomes known to all, when she is glorified, and she believes that this thirst for greatness is necessary to fulfill her special mission. This entire system of beliefs creates an illusion of omnipotence, but at the same time conceals a fear of being ordinary, dependent, imperfect — a fear of losing love and value without the image of being “the best” and “irreplaceable.” Neurotic need: — To be needed by everyone and to matter to the world.
