[1/3] 𝐒𝐄𝐋𝐅-𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐒𝐄𝐑𝐕𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝟔: 》𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐦𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐯𝐞 I firmly believe that Rokuro Okajima (or Rock) is a SP6 and that most people have misunderstood the motivations behind Rock's actions. This is why he is typed wrongly as SO9. Rock is a character who has always been focused on his own survival, from the very beginning. His actions were always driven by the desire of physical and mental protection, from looking for a job in a good company to eagerly trying to save a girl from the darkness. He searched for a stable job that guaranteed him a safe place in society and a future. Rock didn't have a life of routine, robotic, in order to preserve his inner quietness (he is very active inside), he doesn't compulsively seek the comfort like type 9 does. I believe Rock hated his routine life as an employee, but he considered it as necessary in order to not end up on the street. – REVY: Rock. What did you do at work? – ROCK: I was with the materials procurement department...so I went on business trips, wrote reports...made phone calls, but I think lowering my head...to my superiors was my real job. Come night, I'd accompanied my superiors when he'd go out for drinks. I even got my *** kicked once when he was drunk. – REVY: That's great, Rock. That was a disgusting story. Putting up with all that crap. Are you some masochist? – ROCK: Putting up with it is part of the job. No one wants to end up on the streets. Everyone survives like that. – REVY: Pathetic. /Episode 3/ The reason why Rock is very remissive is to survive. That's why he allowed his superiors to mistreat him. Rock is painfully aware that in order to live in this world and to obtain a place in the society he has to endure abuses from others. His adaptation to society doesn't have anything to do with the need of Social 9 to melt with a group. In fact, Rock had no problem to leave his old life once he felt no longer protected. Rock doesn't show the need of belonging typical of SO9 and he doesn't show over-adaptation to other people in the way a So9 does. Though Rock adapts himself easily to other people's will in the way, manifesting a submissive personality, he can become very reactive every time he feels threatened, in danger, and challenged. Being submissive isn't an exclusive trait of type 9, SP6s can have submissive traits as well that make them look similar to 9. The focus of the type 6 is their survival since they have fear of not surviving. 6s perceive the world around them as too dangerous and mortal and then they are looking for something or someone that can protect them. They adhere to rigid structure, internal or external, like a leader, authority, rules, laws, dogmas, personal logics and personal principles. As method of surviving, SP6 ingratiate the others through being friendly, generous, hospitable, loyal. This fits Rock very well and it's a reason why he was typed as a 9. Since SP6s see others as a threat to their survival, they will try to befriend others and align themselves with them to ensure others won't lash out against them. Fear here takes place as a constant submission in order to gain protection. Again, this fits Rock's personality. ⬇️ SUBMISSIVE TRAIT OF SP6: «In Karen Horney’s description of neuroses, we can see this E6 in the conciliatory personality, whose style of conflict resolution is resignation, particularly in tending to renouncing with submission. The neurotic “resignation” restricted the field of action connected with their own desires. They can renounce all ambition for success, in that it implies effort and, additionally, the danger of being imprisoned by others’ expectations and responsibilities. They prefer to cultivate intense imaginative activity and fear their elevated ideal of themselves, while they delay the necessary action to make things reality. They tend to be convinced of chasing what they want, which they don’t really know much about. They lose the orientation of action because they do not have contact with desire, nor with its implied emotional aspects. This leads the self-preservation E6 to a detachment leading them to occasional inertia in the plane of action. The submissive resignation causes extreme neurotic worry about conflict and punishment. The mechanism of projection is evident through the way they invest others into co-action and hostility instead of recognizing their difficulty to be “free” and themselves. The self-preservation E6 is one type who can fall victim to inertia, paralyzed in all aspects of their life. To drain the anxiety at the root, they feed a spooky omnipotent world that does not reveal an authentic position of independence. And with submission they do not take action but rather maintain an ultimate defense stemming from their internal world»
