Here's my revised argument for the Cheadle version being an ISTJ (Iron Man 1 not included in this argument). Some of this carries over from my argument for ESFJ below, but anyone looking for the argument for Fe in general can look at that post as well. First, the argument for Si, or the Si/Ne axis in general. There are two great scenes that demonstrate Si, from Iron Man 2 and Age of Ultron, respectively: • Rhodes (IM2, Senate Hearing): "It was my understanding that I was going to be testifying in a much more comprehensive and detailed manner." • Rhodes (same scene): "You do understand that reading a single paragraph out of context does not reflect the summary of my final [opinion]." • Rhodes also continues to vehemently contextualize his statements over Senator Stern's protests. The Si/Ne axis tries to cross-contextualize as much as possible. Information is seen as significant or relevant *only* because of how it relates to other information, not because of any intrinsic, essential aspect of it. Si is the side of this axis that is oriented toward comprehensive details. It condenses collections of information or relationships into mosaic-like impressions and orderly sequences of facts – in other words, *bunches of stuff*. The essential difference between Rhodes and Senator Stern here – the difference that causes conflict – is the lens through which they are focusing their interpretations of the evidence. Rhodes prefers a broad perspective (Ne/Si axis) that circumscribes the topic in its entirety, encompassing every possible angle to get the entire 'bunch' of information accurate; Stern prefers a direct perspective (Se/Ni axis) that 'cuts through the crap' in order to arrive more directly at the point he is trying to make. The second example is Rhodes's bit about dropping the tank, in the party scene from Age of Ultron. Si is most comfortable in situations in which it can refer the present context to an overall impression of similar experiences from the past. In this way, the present situation can be properly contextualized in the overarching schema of situations, and the atemporal idea of "this particular kind of experience" can be solidified. So, after having told the joke numerous times on similar occasions, Rhodes's cognition has solidified an impression (Si) of the tone of the general response, an impression he consciously references every time he tells the joke. When the story gets a cold reception from Stark and Thor, he gets sort of a bad 'internal vibe' from the new impression because it doesn't match the sequence: • Rhodes: "Why do I even talk to you guys? Everywhere else that story kills." After the story works the second time, he nods sharply as if to say, "Good. Order has been restored." Now, to be fair, all of this does require a Feeling function, either to evaluate the emotional tone of the objective situation directly (Fe), or to compare the emotional tone with an ideal version of the emotional tone felt by Rhodes (Fi). I would lean more toward Fe, but this can be interpreted either way. The Te argument is below in the replies. >>>
Biographie
Colonel James Rupert "Rhodey" Rhodes is an officer with the United States Air Force and liaison between the military in the Department of Acquisitions and Stark Industries, where he became close friends with Tony Stark. Though he is supportive of his best friend Tony Stark and generally enjoys being involved in his revelries, he is sometimes annoyed by Stark's flippant and reckless behavior. As a military man, he is a firm believer in people being held responsible for their actions and a proper chain of command. He also maintains a sense of professionalism and strives to do whatever he feels is the right thing for the American people. #DonCheadle
