Biographie
Barney is a self-educated LPN with a checkered criminal record who worked a series of lowly manual-labor jobs before becoming an orderly at the mental hospital. He is also the only staff member at the hospital who truly understands how to deal with Lecter. Lecter recognizes this, and the two have a mutually respectful relationship.
