Biographie
Emma of Normandy is a norman noble. She's a descendant (great-granddaughter) of Rollo, the first viking ruler of Normandy, and great-aunt of the current duke of Normandy William. She married old King Aethelred II of England, being his second wife, and bore him 2 sons: Edward and Alfred. After Aethelred's death Emma married King Canute the Great, being his second concurrent wife, whose domain of England she managed in his absence, waging a quiet war against Earl Godwin whom she suspected of treason. In this endeavour she tortured Godwin's anglosaxon wife Aelfwynn to death, which further cemented the intense rivalry between Emma and Godwin. After Canute's death she retained her position as Queen of England by coupling with his son Harold Harefoot.
