Biographie
Alison Lewis aka Zoè Zanias, is a singer, performer, producer and DJ based in Berlin. She was born in Australia and grew up in Malaysia and Papua New Guinea. After obtaining a degree in archaeology and anthropology, she left behind a life in academia to focus on music full time. She co-founded the body music collective ‘Fleisch’ and now runs the record label of the same name while simultaneously writing and performing her own work, which she co-produces with Alex Akers. Linea Aspera (with Ryan Ambridge- Lust Patten) plays a mix of synthpop and darkwave. Ambridge is on synthesizers, he writes the electronics, as well as mixes and produces the recordings. In her lyrics, Lewis incorporates the sciences of osteology, neuroscience, and anthropology, weaving a medical language around themes of desire, despair and renewal. Keluar (with Sid Lamar- Jonas Förster) is influenced by industrial/ebm and has a more experimental, cold new wave-ish sound. Zanias is her latest, solo project.
