Personnalité

"Quel type de personnalité est Michael Holden? Michael Holden est un type de personnalité ENFP dans MBTI, 9w8 - sx/so - 794 dans Enneagram, SLUAI dans Big 5, ILE dans Socionics."

ENFP 9w8 Okay, hear me out on this one. While at first glance, he may seem more like a 7 or a 4, I think he’s actually a 9 because of the way he deals with his anger. Of the three centers, each group has their own approach to stress and negative emotions, with the instinctive center (8,9 and 1) having anger. Nines specifically have a tendency to repress theirs, the Enneagram Institute website saying they “deny their anger and instinctual energies as if to say, “What anger? I am not a person who gets angry.” Nines are the type most out of touch with their anger and instinctual energies, often feeling threatened by them. Of course, Nines get angry like everyone else, but try to stay out of their darker feelings by focusing on idealizations of their relationships and their world.” I mean. Tell me this isn’t him for much of the first half of the book. Michael specifically is out of touch with his anger, repressing it and shoving it down until it builds up all around him and he explodes. But, the minute this begins to affect other people, like in the skating rink with Tori, he immediately shoves it back down again, because he doesn’t want to cause a conflict or problem with her. Every single time they fight, he just wants to go back to them getting along, and is willing to repress his own feelings in order to do so, like the day they have their snowball fight and first he makes some (extremely valid) points about how Tori just uses him to make her feel better about herself, but the minute she asks him to be there he shows up. He tries to avoid conflict with her, and when it ends up happening, is willing to do whatever it takes in order to take it back and fix everything so they can just get along and be at peace again. This is almost the literal description of the type 9. Now for the wing. Personally, I think w8 makes a lot more sense than w1. Here is some of the description of a 9w8, from the website Enneagramgift. “9w8’s can be calm on the nine’s side but energetic and aggressive from the eight’s side. Type nines tend to sit back instead of going forward with their ideas because they are afraid of conflict, but they are more confident and assertive with an eight’s influence. They take less time planning because they somehow know that everything will work in their favor.” This is Michael from the very beginning. He has a tendency to act before he thinks, and hope it works out for the best. But unlike a type 7, he doesn’t do it just for fun- he does it because he’s looking for connection, and he hopes to make friends and gain acceptance out of it, which is one of the main desires of the 9. Ultimately, this only works once (on Tori), which really upsets Michael even though he tries to act like it doesn’t bother him. You see how hurt he is by his disconnection with his old schoolmates at Truham, and how he still kind of resents Nick and Lucas for it, even though he’s civil to their faces (avoiding conflict again). Of the differences between w8’s and w1’s, the website said this. “Enneagram nines both desire to be at peace, but a 9w8 reacts to this desire by avoiding conflict, and a 9w1 by implementing them into reality. Nines with an eight wing are good at taking charge with their assertive attitude.” See the second paragraph- Michael goes out of his way many times to avoid a conflict with Tori, but he isn’t afraid to be assertive and go after what he wants if he knows it won’t cause issues in his personal relationships, like how hard he dedicates himself to skating and how at first he doesn’t invite anyone else (his parents and Tori) into that part of his life, in case it does end up causing a conflict or they end up berating him for it. It’s something he can just succeed at on his own, and it’s there, surrounded by people that actually like him (group acceptance, a core desire) and doing something he’s really good at (self-confidence and self-certainty, a growth direction) that he feels the most comfortable Anyways, this ended up so much longer than I intended it to be lol. But this is what I think makes the most sense for him, and I think it becomes really clear if you look past the surface of his actions and more into the motivation behind them.
