It’s interesting how the structure of the novels vs the anime change his cognition entirely. The novel oreki got his philosophy because of a betrayal in where someone lied to him to get him to do more work and oreki then states that people used him to get out of trouble a lot because he always accepted it without speaking so he eventually got tired and decided only to do what was necessary. I think that the back story completely proves Fe inferior because his reasoning for having his motto was more based on how people took advantage of his Fe and how it only brought him down, the energy conservation was more so of a secondary result rather than his purpose. Oreki in the novel was also less internally focused, this was probably because the novels feel like mysteries with interesting characters as the backdrop. In the anime however oreki had very obvious Ni-Fi since the anime seemed to have the opposite structure of the novel more so focused on oreki’s psyche while using the mystery’s to enhance the characters this led to oreki becoming more symbolic and having the tendency to see the world through his own values most clearly shown through the constant visual metaphors made in the anime. Side note: middle school oreki’s analysis of the tiger myth was very Ti-Ne and by the end he basically made a different myth all together.
