(1/7) I'd like to once again bring up the possibility of sx (counterphobic/countertype) 6w7 for Eunyung, as I find he matches the type perfectly. I re-read the first Eunyung arc (ch 10-23) and tried to show how some of his dialogue with Haejoon falls in line with both the general descriptions of sx 6 as well as the trait structure. It's possible I'll do this with the future Eunyung arcs as well, but at this point I'm not sure if I will or not since the story is so long. Before going into the dialogue. This type aggressively goes towards and against what they fear. In the PDB wiki, Naranjo states (under "Psychology of the enneatype"): "The sexual subtype of trait Six is also called "counterphobic". This adjective underscores a reactive style that, instead of being in touch with the dominant passion (fear) defends itself from it by reacting to fear through aggressive and belligerent behavior. Motivation is fear and what he uses to defend himself from the world is to provoke fear; hence his intimidating and authoritarian aspect. The term "cowardice" (used by Oscar Ichazo) defines very well the passion of enneatype Six. What distinguishes the counterphobic subtype is precisely the feeling of shame it feels in the face of cowardice. The sexual E6 lives a typical ambivalence regarding contact and withdrawal, the relationship with oneself and with the world. He has a desire for fusion but also fears it. It therefore leaves in the unconscious the desire for intimacy so as not to face the fear of annihilation and the anguish of loneliness." Now that we have the general description out of the way, a key aspect about Eunyung, a person at this point in the story who has absolutely no one he completely trusts yet because he has been betrayed so many times, is that when Eunyung feels someone he is speaking to actually cares about him, is being sincere with him, or Eunyung is actually being sincere himself and is finally letting his guard down, light shines in his eyes (with the only obvious exception of when he is lying to authority figures like teachers, but during these times his face is drawn slightly differently to distinguish the moments he's acting). Therefore, these moments are key to understanding Eunyung's character. First Eunyung arc (Ch 10-23): Overall, I feel Eunyung is a person who wants to have friendships, people he trusts, and a place he belongs to, but has been disappointed so many times in life that it has made him very cynical of life and doubtful of people in general. However, because he sees similarities between himself and Haejoon, and because they are both stuck in the same rotten situation at the dorm, Eunyung unconsciously seeks out that intimacy from Haejoon. The more Eunyung sees himself relate to Haejoon, the more things he tries to give to Haejoon. The reason Eunyung goes “Wow! Do you actually have no friends?!” (ch 11) is not because Eunyung is trying to make fun of Haejoon, but because he (subconsciously) relates. As we learn later in the series, even though Eunyung is surrounded by lots of people, there’s not anyone he really feels close to. Being stuck in the same situation (i.e. the haunted dorm) makes Haejoon more relatable in Eunyung’s eyes. Hence Eunyung goes, “Hey...cheer up. But I did kinda expect this. Hehe. That’s okay. Not everyone can have friends! Want me to share some snacks with you? Come hang out~ I’ll share some snacks.” However, Haejoon does not pick up on this and thinks Eunyung is just making fun of him.
