But.. the name, Ahlyo- "people of the mist" comes from a mishearing of their real name. People assumed the name came from "Ah" meaning "mist," and "lyo" meaning "the people." But their real name is Ao-Loh. "Ao" for "oath" and "Loh" for "guardian." I lost my place as an Ao-loh." Even in her last moments Soyon thinks: "I never intended to survive this from the start. But Elin.. There is a way that I can at least save Elin. But.. it would be a terrible sin, even if it was to save my own daughter.. one that may bring about a horrifying calamity.." She looks at Elin and says, "Elin. you must NEVER copy what I'm about to do. Your mother is going to commit a terrible crime. You must survive and find your happiness, my dear." In addition to this, Soyon abided by both her current village's code/punishment and the Ao-loh code to keep the secret hidden about the Touda. The Ao-loh members praise her later on for abiding by the code: "Soyon [poisoned the Touda] to keep our oath. Your daughter had not abandoned her role as a member of our tribe. Although she knew that she would be executed for her crimes.. she chose to let the Touda die in order to protect our secret. However, she couldn't bear to see her own child be ripped apart by the Touda. At the very last moment, she gave in to her parental love." I see this most in line with so 6 > E1 (she is more motivated by external guidelines to mitigate fear over internal sense of morality and perfectionism + repression of anger) or any other subtype.
