There isn't a character I relate to more than Mae. The older I get, the more I realise just how well written she really is. Her humor of pointing things out in a goofy way or making casual self deprecating remarks is exactly how I interact with people. It's a way to cover up that weird existential emptiness. Her manic indecisiveness and lack of true identity shook me to the ground when I first played the game as I had been dealing with the exact same shit for years. That feeling of wanting so badly to connect to people, so badly wanting them to just get you because you have 0 clue what's happening in your brain yourself.
