Is Shang Tsung a Te user or a Ne user? But first, we have to analyze what is a Te dom and what is a Ne dom using Carl Jung's theory. I will compare Te with Ti (because ENTPs have Ti aux): Introverted Thinking (Ti) is a more implicit and subjective form of logic. Rather than looking outward and referencing objective standards, it reasons and operates according to its own inner criteria. It spends ample time questioning underlying premises and assumptions, desperately seeking, but struggling to find, firm epistemological footing. It therefore tends to be more critical and reductive in its workings. Te, by contrast, tends to be more confident and forward-moving (especially in ETJs), quick to make changes and reforms in response to the latest data. Indeed, we see this sort of optimism and eagerness with all the extraverted functions. The extraverted functions are constantly adding and broadening, while the introverted functions tend to reduce and deepen. So while Te goes about expanding the number of facts or policies, Ti earns its keep by criticizing or circumventing them. For Ne vs Ni: Introverted Intuition (Ni)- Ni seeks to find the truth or accuracy, Ni narrows down ideas to reach a conclusion, Ni is more refined and organized, Uses Se’s sensory powers to reach realistic conclusions, Internal Extroverted Intuition (Ne): Ne seeks to explore possibilities, Ne expands concepts to form new ideas, Ne is scatter-brained, Uses Si’s power of detail and experience to create new ideas, External Why is Shang Tsung ENTP? The only thing that stops him from being a te user is because Shang is a creative, opportunistic, adaptable person who is always thinking about possibilities, and this is Ne. Shang's creativity is given both by what he says and by his abilities. He can transform into anyone he wants and imitate his abilities, leaving him a wide range of possibilities and combinations. He also uses transformations for manipulation. But the biggest moment of his Ne was when he talked to Liu Kang about timelines: "If there are two timelines, can't there be more?", also Shang Tsung said: "You said we lack strength. Another moment was when he made the medicine for Mileena, and he blamed the Earthrealmers for wanting to kill the future queen, taking advantage of this disaster (also he created tarkatans, but he had a plan B if he couldn't make Mileena a tarkatan). Also TeNi is known for being inflexible, ENTJs can be inflexible in their thinking and how they live their life on a daily basis. They like things done a certain way and can find it uncomfortable to deviate from their routine or plans. Which it doesn't define Shang at all. Conclusion: Shang Tsung is a Ne dom without a doubt.
