[Disclaimer: I do not mean any offence to any believers of religion and myth or mbti and socionics: This is just an analysis which could be wrong. Take the analysis with a grain of salt if you disagree. Don’t take it too seriously. There are no perfect personality types and I’ve typed through a prototypal matching of stories and psychological types, I’ve reached certain conclusions.] It’s always tricky typing mythological gods and fictional characters. Let me try to answer by considering Shiva to be a symbol of god in the minds of Hindus. Let’s consider his characteristic features based on folklore and puranas. He has the mental characteristic of high concentration and doesn’t like it when disturbed by people/gods when meditating, if anyone disturbs him, he gets so angry that he burns them: like when he burned and killed manmatha and almost killed Indra in another rage episode. He minds his own business most of the time: meditating or contemplating in silence.. Sounds like introvert to me: thus, we get I. He has a high level of concentration and gains sudden insight, probably signified by the third eye: which also represents intellect. N. His high concentration is somewhat reminiscent of the NJ behaviour going by Dario Nardi’s understanding of cognitive functions. He can be mean at times, not so affectionate to his family, definitely a T and not an F. He appears to be rigid and judgemental about gods and people. He is stubborn with decisions: He didn’t want to get married again and his mind had to be changed through a struggle by the gods, especially Parvathi. He is a bit stubborn also. Again J. So, putting the four letters, we get INTJ. Going by the cognitive functions: His high concentration, sudden insight, introspective nature and being able to imagine and predict trends reminds me of Ni and popularly I’ve seen many websites using the third eye as a symbol for Ni: personality hacker has this eye symbol to represent the perspectives function or introverted intuition. Then, we have extroverted sensing: which can clearly be seen through his dance moves as nataraja, his tendency to love music, arts, alcohol, smoke and drugs. All of this point to his Se or extroverted sensing. So, we have Ni and Se. Ni seems to be always there and we can assume it’s in the first place, and he rarely gets up from meditation and enjoys life, assuming Se to be present in the last stack or fourth place. He is bad at showing his affections to people, his family and allies, and his feelings are often hidden: sounds like Fi to me. But, he doesn’t seem to care about his own feelings, so I’d say it is on the third position. He lamented so much on Sati’s death and pushed it all inside. Doesn’t cry much and puts on a tough guy facade: Fi to me. Te: He is a master of weapon usage and often we see him discussing tantra, yantra, agama, philosophies, etc. occult knowledge with his wife when not meditating or introspecting. Discussing one’s thoughts sounds like Te to me. He is also a master archer and very accurate. Also, Te people are perceived as violent and dominating at times: consider ENTJs and ESTJs as an example. So, we have Te in the second tire. So, even on the functional level: Ni Te Fi Se: He’s an INTJ. He’s not an ISTJ: because, the guy is a rebel and an outcast of society: that’s not ISTJ-ish or Si-ish. He rebels against dogma and order as he considers it to be limiting and promotes his own version of structure and order: yantra and tantra. That is why he had difference in opinion with the over the top traditional father-in-law Daksha prajapathi- who reminds me of ISTJs and ESTJs. I don’t know about the Shiva character in the Shiva trilogy by Amish Tripathi: but, since people are saying he’s ISTJ in one volume and INTP in another volume: sounds like INTJ to me. Also, I hear from a friend that he rebels against tradition of the given fictional culture and marries a widow(in that fictional culture- marrying a widow is a taboo) ISTJs are very traditional: seems like INTJ behaviour to me. Also, a compound personality of INTP+ISTJ behaviour can be shown either by INTJs or ISTPs. I think he might be an INTJ even in the novel (P.S. I haven’t read the novel so I really can’t say: if he reminds you of Bruce Wayne from the Batman comics: probably an INTJ, because Bruce is an INTJ.)

Lord is one of the principal deities of Hinduism. He is the Supreme Being in Shaivism, one of the major traditions within Hinduism. Shiva is known as "The Destroyer" within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity which also includes Brahma and Vishnu. In the Shaivite tradition, Shiva is the Supreme Lord who creates, protects and transforms the universe. In the goddess-oriented Shakta tradition, the Supreme Goddess (Devi) is regarded as the energy and creative power (Shakti) and the equal complementary partner of Shiva. Shiva has many aspects, benevolent as well as fearsome. In benevolent aspects, he is depicted as an omniscient Yogi who lives an Shiva has pre-Vedic roots, and the figure of Shiva evolved as an amalgamation of various older non-Vedic and Vedic deities, including the Rigvedic storm god Rudra who may also have non-Vedic origins, into a single major deity. Shiva is a pan-Hindu deity, revered widely by Hindus in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Indonesia (especially in Java and Bali).
