I love Yui so much! And yes, she’s your typical ISFJ (see what I mean by searching up Otome Game protagonist’s type). I abhor her haters so much. The fact that many people complain about her being ‘weak’. For F-U-C-K’s sake, if she’s physically ‘weak’ against supernatural creatures that can crush her body utterly on the snap of fingers, at least she’s Strong-minded :v Everyone be thinking they would do any different in her situation. Actually, the girls that say they would, would indeed. Do you know how? By dying faster. Talk back and you’ll get a slap, you’ll land in the next wall. Curse or do any infuriating s-h-i-t to the vampires, and they’ll suck you dry or torture you even more. To those who lack (The FANGIRLS of: “I want to be in her place”, “I love hiiiim. Please suck my blood!”, “Ugh, I hate Yui so much, I’d be much better than her and know how to defend myself. The ‘poor’ vampires would be my slaves.”) the understanding of what it is really like to be in the world of Diabolik Lovers, I’ll tell you: You won’t last two seconds with this kind of behavior. Your sanity will be tested, your body will feel immense pain every time you’re bitten (do the math with six vampires to feed), and your mind will endure their ‘tricks and toys’ to play with you until they’re bored, and never forget, until they’ve had you to the limit and beyond. She’s such a kind person, to have pity for those damned vampires, a Fe-aux at core! Its her sense of social awareness and sensing people’s moods that made it possible for her to survive as the Heroine in multiple times….and timelines, even if it broke her a little bit in the head. Her traditions, conservative upbringing and sense of stability/nostalgia shows a heavy use of Si-dom, plus past thinking, lots of it are shown in the game (the flashbacks with the loverboys as she interacts with it, all make me think the author of the story planned to have her be a variant of Si). Yui’s thinking can be seen in the ways how she doesn’t speak factually or “shove” things ‘away’ as facts, like higher Te would. She’s always pondering, always considering something in the tragic past of the 13 vampires, almost as if she immersed herself to try and understand them Fe-Ti. She doesn’t reject things as they come, instead she studies them in her tert area and comes about a conclusion after this category/label has been put in it. Coming to a certain label or conclusion, Ti can rationalize a manipulative or lack-of-substance decision on Fe’s part, in the case where Yui convinced(and lied) to herself about saving the boys and doing the best for everyone, and put it as “the most logical decision” she could undertake, while that was the furthest from the truth (and in many routes she ends up mentally paranoid or ill, suicide routes, murders, etc). She’s also prone to yielding her own personality (Critical Parent Fi), train of thought and subjective opinions for the sake of avoiding conflict (understandably so as the Sakamaki could kill her in her first mistake or their intention) or by maintaining harmony with those around them, aka self-sacrifice. Inferior Ne came in Yui in extreme moments of survival and stress, where she worried about all the potential scenarios that could go wrong, as she didn’t have any past experience to navigate from. This resulted in reckless, poor decisions from her part in some of the routes, as she fell to despair. However, her healthier Ne moments, allowed her to deal with new problems or arising situations in creativity, during her bright, beautiful moments of happiness (amidst chaos…). Typically followed by sudden bursts of inspiration or whimsy is the trait of the inf Ne function. Using humor to dive into her funnier, sillier and more laid-back side, as she grew comfortable with each boy further down the routes (particularly Ayato and Kou). *EDIT: cause at the time I wrote this a long time ago, my typology knowledge was limited. Learning the functions further ahead only made me more certain Yui is an ISFJ. Thank you.
