I find Quentin Beck aka "Mysterio" to be an ENTJ, but I'm not surprised by the ENFJ votes. They don't come as a shock, because he's shown as a highly personable individual in moments throughout the film, but considering his motive sort of explains all that ceremonial shystering to use that as a basis argument for Fe dominant is null and void. Why is Quentin Beck aka "Mysterio" not an ENFJ? One reason that subtracts the surface impression of his personality away from him being automatically ENFJ is that the people skills he displays are byproducts of subjective knowledge/expectancy (Ni). It's not because he's an extraverted feeler that he can con Peter Parker so effectively, but it's because he has a keen insight into condensed experiences of individual interaction through subjective knowledge/expectancy (Ni). He knows Peter's naïve. He knows Peter seeks guidance. He knows Peter wants a life without so much responsibility. He knows Peter lies to himself and denies himself. This knowledge is not a byproduct of objective metrics/values/limitation (Fe), which is a reception function, but it's Ni filtering, and Ni is a perception function. A lot of people presume that knowing this sort of stuff is empathy and therefore it's Fe at work, but (1) Fe isn't empathy, (2) this knowledge isn't empathy, and (3) it's just knowledge to do with what you will. What points to Beck being an ENTJ instead of ENFJ is how he functions with this Ni knowledge/expectancy, and it's evident he doesn't operate with objective metrics/values/limitation (Fe) in mind. He casually manipulates Peter into getting hit by a train, and this is something he confesses he's sorry for, but he doesn't feed into any registering of emotions committing the potentially deadly deception. "You are so gullible. I mean you're as smart as a whip, just a... sucker. So now all your friends have to die. It's easy to fool people if they are already fooling themselves. But for what it's worth, Peter, I really am sorry." ―Mysterio to Spider-Man The above quote adds credence to his ceremonious behavior being a product of auxiliary Ni. The commentary of "fooling themselves" points that out. Now, you may be wondering where his Te is, and I can answer that. I actually can. Quentin Beck aka "Mysterio" speaks emphasizing objective optics/symbols/vantages (Te). He doesn't avoid stating objective optics (Te) associations, but he delights in making such statements. For Example, take his speech in the bar and I Quote: "These days, you can be the smartest guy in the room, the most qualified, and no one cares. Unless you're flying around with a cape, or shooting lasers with your hands, no one will even listen. Well, I've got a cape and lasers. Quentin Beck was a former employee at Stark Industries who became embittered as Tony Stark disregarded his entire life's work, resulting in Beck losing his job. Seeking his retribution, Beck had joined forces with other former Stark employees to create a new superhero named Mysterio, using weaponized drones and his hologram technology to create an illusion of his own superpowers, as well as multiple attacks from the fictional Elementals. Beck used the Elementals to cause massive destruction across Europe, only to "defeat" them himself to fool the world into idolizing him. Beck managed a selfless and kind front, appearing to risk his life to protect innocents and allies. Beck would also become somewhat of a father figure to Spider-Man, showing sympathy. Beck's superhero guise lies an egotistical, vain, fame hungry and manipulative narcissist who would stop at nothing to get what he wants. #CompleteMonster
