SPOILERS BELOW With two great examples of female Te-Ni usage in this show (Dedra and Kleya) I’m a bit baffled by the current ENTJ consensus on Vel. She’s definitely a strong Te user; Vel stands as a solid point of authority throughout the Aldhani incident (despite her brief moment of hesitation on the bridge)—she is tenacious, driven, and extremely goal-oriented in everything that she does. However, that decisiveness is visibly tempered by her Si throughout the show. Vel is uniquely stubborn in her role as a revolutionary, often butting up against her Te-Ni colleagues (like Luther and Kleya) when they begin operating beyond what she can meticulously comprehend and tangibly involve herself in. She is depicted as uncomfortable with change and very risk-averse, which obviously isn’t a bad thing (especially for someone with lives in their care) but it is very indicative of Se blindness. She’s extremely competent, but she’s also rather humorless in that quintessentially uptight ISTJ sort of way. Not a bad thing, obviously, but noticeable nonetheless. Additionally, Vel’s whole arc with Cinta really screams tert Fi loop to me. She’s suddenly blind to the systematic, objective worldview that gives her purpose, so unable to push down her anxieties and concerns for Cinta that she actively presses against orders or reason in order to ensure that Cinta is alright in dangerous situations. I couldn’t tell if she actively disobeyed orders from Kleya to stop contacting Cinta or whether she obeyed but was pissy about it, but either way, her dismissal of advice that didn’t suit her perception of the situation was a telltale sign of the Fi-loop.
