Clawd tends to lift people’s spirits, as he enjoy telling jokes, making people laugh, and, according to Draculaura, “brightening every room he walks into”. He is honest, kind-hearted, brave and is always ready to do what's right. He cares deeply for his family and friends and is always by their side. Due to him growing up in Beheme, Clawd is still learning how things work in his new home dimension, and, by extension, at Monster High. Clawd is son of human Apollo and werewolf Selena and brother of Clawdeen. While trapped in another dimension called "Beheme", Selena discovered that she was pregnant with Clawd, and ended up giving birth to him in that dimension. Although Clawdeen was born before Clawd, he is technically her older brother due to time passing faster in Beheme, making him physically older than her. Clawd and his mother care for each other deeply; the two opened a pest control business together in Beheme to detain rogue monsters and creatures. They also cooked tamales together, and Selena told him all about his father and sister. After coming to Monster High, he was determined to bring his mother back home. After Selena’s return, Clawd admittedly missed spending time alone with his mom, especially on Friday the 13th as seen in "Play It Again, Clawd", even though he also enjoys his father and Clawdeen’s company. But, he soon realized how much fun it is spending time together with his whole family, and wanted everyone to meet up for food after celebrating Friday the 13th with his mom. Since he was raised only by his mother in Beheme, he never got to meet his father or his sister, but when he was brought to Monster High, he was finally able to meet Clawdeen. At first, Clawdeen didn't believe him when he claimed to be her brother, but when she saw Clawd had her mother's tamales, she realized he was telling the truth. After they worked together to stop the Splitzies from destroying the school, by singing the lullaby their mother sang to them as kids together, the two ended up developing a close sibling relationship.
