The ne grip on him is NUTS. His new fiancé comes in and makes him breakfast and he automatically assumes she poisoned it. His reasoning is Si Ne not Ni Se. If he was an Intj he’d use more physical cues to derive his conclusions but he doesn’t. He also took her hesitation as denial when an INTJ wouldn’t especially not an unhealthy one who would watch more keenly for facial expressions. This dude is SUPER si dom. Update: Since it seems that no one else has made a better argument for ISTJ I’ll do so. An INTJ would not have been so overtly distrustful (showing his distrust) and would have seen it as a misuse of energy to be so overtly mean and on edge around her. Instead he would’ve just planned his life around her after properly estimating her capabilities (which doesn’t take long at ALL). For example if an ISTJ and an INTJ had to figure out if someone is cheating at a card game. An ISTJ would think about all of the past times he’s known of someone to cheat and compare that situation with now to determine if this person in front of him is cheating. If he’s unhealthy and has been cheated on in cards before he’s more likely to just assume the other person is cheating and will likely get angry just at the thought of it. If an INTJ was playing cards however, he would look for signs the person is cheating based on physical cues and adapt to outsmart his opponent. Like if he knows they’re harboring extra hearts he plays only diamonds, something like that. He will try to trap the opponent in their weakness that he has already derived from ni se. So what’s the key difference here? Ni is about the WAY concepts are connected while ne is about GROUPING like concepts. So ISTJs are more likely to group similar concepts and treat them the same. “Playing cards with cheater and playing cards with normal person = same and may equal same result”. While fine tuned ne (more likely in higher ne users) is more capable of finding the intricacies in groupings. This leads them to relying more on si to determine their actions in situations hence why he was on such a high guard when first coming near her. Which is why INTPS tend to get extremely technical very fast saying stuff like “it depends”. On the contrary INTJs use ni to connect concepts and then perceive their subjects next move. When fine tuned and using se this can work really well. So instead of saying “playing cards with cheater vs norm is same category” they’ll think something like “playing cards with this person who is using (subtle se cues) is likely meaning they are trying to do … this thing to cheat. So I’ll do this thing to make sure it doesn’t happen. So with this explanation he would have never had his guard up the same way when first meeting her nor would most of the things that happened to her (without spoilers) have happened. Because he would’ve perceived it before hand. Since she gave NO SE cues for him to derive danger from her it doesn’t make sense that he would confront her in fear as an INTJ. This is also where the ni se stalker trope comes from, most NI SE users like to observe the room or people around them so they can better fine tune their NI. This is also why ENTJS and INTJS are seen as such villains because they are basically relatively accurate LIVING prediction models. In reality a majority of the world is SI NE driven so this is probably just a major blindspot to them. To me and probably other higher NE users, NTJS have a lot of blind spots. Which is also why you’ll always find an NTJ in shows or movies with other higher ne users.
