Doctor Henry Jonathan "Hank" Pym is the father of Hope van Dyne and former Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.. After the death of his daughter on a mission, Pym went rogue and insane, becoming the supervillain known as Yellowjacket. Pym then planned to murder all of the Avengers Initiative candidates, thus destroying Nick Fury's life work.
