Limbus Meursault is an interesting case, differing a little from his source material self—this Meursault is keen on abiding rules and orders, thus when something goes awry he traces back the faults to the orders given or lack thereof. Whereas Camus' Meursault justifies his acts because he thinks he is never wrong, and thus, the sun's oppressive heat clouded his judgement. That’s pure absurdism—refusing to take responsibility by universalizing the cause. He doesn't exclusively adhere to rules, instead, he shows detachment from it and morality. He doesn’t break rules so much as ignore them. He lives in a personal bubble of sensations—sunburn, nicotine, bodily needs—where social contracts and moral codes barely register. When he does something society deems criminal, he doesn’t reflect on “right” or “wrong.” He universalizes: “The sun made me do it.” Responsibility evaporates in the heat. That’s pure absurdism—life has no built-in meaning, so why bother with rules? interestingly, Limbus Meursault conveyed somewhat of the opposite by admitting defeat when it is stated clearly why he doesn't win (see Hell's Chicken, Eunbong's manager being the judge of this). He admits defeat because the reasons are laid bare by authority—the cold light of data and design. Which makes us guess what the significance of Soleil (the sun) will be later on. See I have a theory that it's probably because he used to be like Camus' Meursault, right, but as he's done with events similar to what happened to Camus' Meursault, maybe he had a revelation, changed slightly in a way. Like he's fighting the absurdism with order, that he does express that people fail to grasp his point oftentimes, even if this is in regards to him elaborating his points, it might serve as a double on that. I mean, sometimes Limbus takes the route of following the original as parallel, or use the story as post-epiphany, mix and match, so I can see how this could be plausible. It's such an interesting take on Meursault! They both share something related to moral judgement, CMeursault's lack thereof, LMeursault's avoidance of. These all are just my thoughts! His Canto is coming up after Hong Lu's and Ryoshu's and even he seems a little distressed, maybe he's starting to see the pattern when he saw Heathcliff like, "... My time is close." 😭
