I will admit, this guy is a hard nut to crack due to the fact that he is CLEARLY an unhealthy example of his type, whatever it is. That being said, his ass is NOT a Myers-Briggs ISTP, I'm sure of it. Burgerpants is a 19-year old guy in the trenches of the fast food service industry. He has a visibly strained expression from the moment you walk in, but it doesn't take very long at all for him to start dumping all of his emotions and life story on the player character. The overall impression his character gives is that of an open blister dunked and held under salt water; he's basically a walking expression of minimum-wage suffering with cat ears. As an ISTP who has Gone Thru It under similar demands as a young adult myself, this guy's behavior bears NO resemblance to how i handle pain; He is faster to open up than i have EVER been in my life, even with my closest/mostntrusted people... Including back when i too, was subject to the tragic and incurable affliction known as Being A Teenager. Additionally, discussion of inferior Fe users across the board seems to agree that we're inexpressive & hard to read, and this is mostly true even when we're upset- at the end of the day we are still Fe users, so we'll typically keep our feelings to ourselves for the sake of others' comfort, even if we aren't consciously aware of it. We know better than anyone else how draining it can be to deal with other people's emotions, and even if unhealthy we often *do* have the basic decency to avoid putting people through that if we can at all help it (...at least, so long as we're self-aware enough to realize that we ourselves, have emotions). Even then, when i'm in Fe grip my affect tends to swing wildly from totally flat & dead inside to noticeably frustrated, with outbursts of self-righteous fury thrown into the mix if it's REALLY dire. I'm not dumping my feelings onto random strangers with the first opportunity they give me, let alone on a *child*- i too have experienced the chronically Online canon event of being unwillingly railroaded into the role of Therapist by a volatile person, and that's the OPPOSITE of a scenario i'd ever be willing to recreate (it's the stuff that hell for IxTPs would be made of). If anything, Burgerpants reminds me less of myself in inferior grip... And more of the kinds of people who are not infrequently, directly responsible for my being in the grip to start with :/ The biggest factor for me though, is this: In his shoes there comes a point- if not allowed to quit- where i eventually would've just gone into the kitchen, left a burner running (because you just KNOW this burger joint is understaffed as hell), told the manager i'm going out for a smoke, and then walked straight out without looking back as the whole damn hotel goes up in flames. The fact that he doesn't ever express destructive fantasies like this out loud despite his open hatred for his job makes me think it EXTREMELY unlikely that he's an SP temperament across the board- it's the sort of thought that has probably occurred to all of us while stuck in a hellishly restrictive situation, if i'm being totally candid, and its absence from his dialogue is noteworthy for it. In any case, i'm voting ISTJ specifically for the fact that it gives him an Fe blind spot- explaining why he's struggling so hard to keep up appearances for a food service job where he is expected to maintain an atmosphere of social harmony, as well as why he only refrains from oversharing in the route where you're a mass murderer (conscious Fi). Besides, "I can't go to hell. I'm all out of vacation days." reads like EXACTLY the kind of dry, sardonic joke that an ISTJ experiencing fast food service worker hellfire *would* crack. This is also supported by the fact that Catti and Bratty, both fairly immature ES types, think of him as Weird and Exploitable. The combination of cognitive extroversion and high Sensing would make these two very adept at noticing peoples' vulnerabilities, which the duo uses for their own benefit to make a total clown out of him (as if the guy wasn't already well aware of the extent to which his workplace is a goddamned circus). Additionally, his judgements largely appear to be made based on 1) whether or not something works for him, and 2) how he personally feels about it, which IS how a TJ type generally makes judgements. Tertiary Fi in particular gives him a strong emotional expressiveness when he's in Si loop, and at his age he would not have elegant control of it either- especially with the level of stress that he's under.
