ESFP is the obvious, but right choice. Why do I feel like three or something years ago he was typed ENFP? I remember thinking how it was wrong and it seems everyone changed their votes since then. All 34 of us. Maybe back then it was like 5 votes. Anyway, his Fi is definitely stronger than his thinking function, but I love that his tertiary Te is actually pretty developed. I've seen people refer to Eikichi as a “rebel” and a “delinquent”. This is likely because he dresses unconventionally and admires people who speak their truth, so to say; stay true to themselves and their dreams -- and this is what Eikichi too, is adamant about, chasing his own dreams instead of giving into what his father wants to make of him. These are all very Fi qualities about him. Ni inferior showing here as well. But Eikichi is also very strict about the rules he sets for his school, which just screams Te. He’s trying to reform Kasugayama and make its reputation better and to erase the image of “useless delinquents” that the school has (Ni here too). Eikichi literally has rules about no smoking, no drinking, attending classes, wearing your school uniform, respecting teachers, not skipping school, etc. I wouldn’t exactly call that a rebel or a delinquent mindset. There’s also a bunch of times where he speaks quite respectfully of authority figures like teachers and he’s also pretty respectful towards his elders in general, like when he tried to help the janitor at Sevens and acted like he should be relied on. Obviously he’s no goody two shoes necessarily, and if I had to choose between two ends of the spectrum I’d definitely much rather call him chaotic good than lawful good, because he has no qualms about breaking rules or breaking the law if it’s in the name of fighting for what’s good and right (Fi). But no, he’s not a delinquent, it’s just the rumors that paint him in that light, or anyone from Kasugayama for that matter. In any case, I simply adore the balance between his Fi and Te. Ekichi is genuinely good. The best way to put it is to indirectly quote what one of the databooks says about him; while he has this annoying and loud, obnoxious personality and he clowns around a lot, not to mention his narcissistic front he puts on, he is actually “the nicest guy you’ll ever meet” when you truly get to know him. Eikichi has so many flaws, like how he projects his insecurities on other people, is very impulsive, has a “power complex”, a thirst for revenge and can be very hypocritical (like "bullying is bad" --> bullies the bullies) etc. But he’s also extremely loyal, super optimistic, wanting to believe the best in people. The way he believes if only you have a desire to change and make things right, you can change and you can become better is very pure. The many contrasting points, dualities about Eikichi make him interesting and complex. How he can be naïve and innocent due to high SeFi, but at the same time super sceptical and rational when it comes to for example the oracle stuff (Te), how he has this façade of narcissism and arrogance and he makes lies and exaggerations this way, yet he’s also the most genuine character in other situations, and actually hides deep, deep insecurities underneath. He acts all macho and “manly” and assertive as part of the routine as the boss (I think he's trying to channel as much Te as possible), but at the same time is super sensitive, vulnerable and soft. How he’s the "comic relief" (as much as I hate calling him that because it gives him no credit) but knows when to be serious when the situation actually calls for it. His affinity for aesthetics and the way he constantly points out perceivable, tangible things from his environment in the moment is a very obvious manifestation of Se, but I also love how he occasionally throws some super philosophical sentiment your way. Still, his preference for Se is pretty obvious. Eikichi also tries very hard, and while it might be a bad thing or an annoying thing to an extent (in other characters perspective at least) it also shows how he’s not lazy by any means, or good-for-nothing, or all talk. He actually tries to get things done (like reforming his school, chasing his dreams, being helpful towards his friends) even if he craves validation while doing it. Still, he actually works hard. I think there's so many more things to talk about, but these are what came to mind having not played the games in a few years.
