"David Cronenbergはどのような性格タイプですか? David Cronenbergは、INTP in MBTI、5w4 - sx/sp - 548 in Enneagram、RCUEI in Big 5、ILI in socionics のパーソナリティタイプです。"
Obviously I can see INTP but to me his films are more about inferior Se, a kind of love-hate relationship with the body-mind. Judging by his films alone he seems scared to death by the body and the rationalization behind its primitive desires (to survive, procreate and maybe even disintegrate), in fact I've read somewhere that he watched his father die from cancer when he still was a child and so the obsession with diseases and body decay. Judging by some of his interviews he seems rather fascinated by body and instincts and once said "we need more sex, more flesh contact", although in his films you get quite the contrary feeling, as I said. I don't know, it's really complicated. This may still indicate just Fe inferior and a constant devaluation of profound feelings in favour of basic instincts (sort of a deranged and riductionistic Ti). But his Te to me feels more strong than his Ti and the "new flesh" thing screams Ni dom and inferior Se from my point of view. The fact that Ni is extremely abstract sound stereotypical to me, surely Ni is focused inward but it can be a very "tangible" allucination of sorts, specially with that Se so devalued and being out of touch with reality. Cronenberg doesn't give a buck about Fe: you can see it in all his movies and that's one of the reason because they're so scary and effective (and one because I really like them!); sometimes it seems like he doesn't even know he's offending my human dignity and breaking my heart! Also you can make an argument about tertiary Fi in his tension between mind and body, I suppose. So at least INTJ is as possible as INTP. Sure he's got quite Ne (his visions, but maybe it's just Ni) and critical Ti (his absolute stance toward science versus religion, but maybe just tert Fi) for an INTJ, while I don't see him as a tert Si user, not even a bit. His Si is really demonic, always projected into the future and really skeptical towards traditions and past experiences, I can't imagine him as a nostalgic. His enneagram seems 5w4 (sometimes I even think of 4w5 because his films to me are soooooo dramatic and even emotional to the point they always make me cry a lot and give me tachycardia! Sure he's cold in person but not his movies, come on!) He once said in a interview that the problem of identity is the underlying motif in all of his movies (specially the Fly I would say, yikes!) Also his care towards aesthetic, drama and arts lead me to think 5w4. You can say he likes to appear detatched but in his films there is a very strong and genuine sense of drama (to me he made the most tragic and gut wrenching endings, never a happy ending, not even close!) You can see The Fly as a sort of post-gothic opera where, in a kind of post-modern and nihilistic way, emotions really conquer all (the strong 4 wing), but that's not as good as it sounds (and here the 5 fear core)... 5w6 can still be the case in a sort of counterphobic stance against common sense, morality and decency (although as I already said his films give quite the contrary impression; for example Rabid and Shivers seems quite puritan to me in their counterphobic sexualization of interpersonal relationships and in all their manifestion of sadistic violence because of that uncontrollable urge... Feels like the utophia from 68 but upside down!) The Weeknd said that Cronenberg is one of the directors that most can capture inner fear, anguish and depravation and I absolutely can relate to this as well. It's one if not my favourite director too, although in a sort of masochistic fashion and probably for the wrong reason, according to my interpretation of his intentions (for example he seems actually really positive about science and progress in interviews but, like I said for the sex thing, you don't get that in his films at all; The Fly doesn't certainly make you desire to have sex or to have a baby and even less to become a scientist! But then he said that experiments in his films go wrong because of human emotions that get in the way and not because of science which seems "perfect" in its rationality, while I believe in reality and in the tradition of sci-fi it's quite the contrary but well who cares since I watch it for catharsis!)
