I think the female characters in this show are poorly written, so Ada's personality changes from season to season. In season 1, she's more of an INFP, in season 2, she's an ENFP, in seasons 3 and 4, she suddenly becomes some kind of INTP, in season 6, she's clearly replacing Polly Gray's character, so she becomes something of an INFJ... Her character is poorly developed, and her personality is changed to suit the show's progress. Losing Freddie Thorne in season 2 doesn't affect her personality at all, even though she loved him with all her heart in season 1. Her trauma, amid the loss of her husband and being alone with her child, could have been as traumatic as Thomas experienced when he lost Grace. But that wasn't interesting for the writers. So Ada remains steadfast where no one else would (and it looks unnatural).

Ada Thorne (née Shelby; born 1896-97) is the fourth and only female of the Shelby sibling. She's the Head of Acquisitions of the Shelby Company Limited. She's a Communist. She married a known Communist Freddie Thorne and has his son, Karl Thorne.
