Sp154 adds up to his character perfectly if you think about it. He took in Violet out of pity, because it was the "right" thing to do. He had a hard time expressing what Violet means to him, his character doesn't revolve around giving and earning love like a 2. We got to see his true colours in the movie when he released the repressed emotions Self-preservation 1s keep tightly sealed due to control issues. He isolated himself (sp5) and he subconsciously sabotaged his relationship with Violet thinking that this was for the best (sp4)
