He makes a judgement based on the facts and is being objective respecting on what is most logical and reasonable. He doesn't care about "what if somebody does this to me", but more about "somebody won't do this to me because it doesn't make sense they would anyways". haven't read anything yet, but by that one dialogue it literally screams Fi child vs Te aux moment lol. not good at describing Te yet, so i hope I did my best explaining it-
