𝐏𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐓 𝐓𝐖𝐎: 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐏𝐄𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐍𝐓 [1/5] 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 & 𝐈𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐮𝐦𝐚 P2 is part of the Living Group centered around Relation Instinct. All types from this group struggle with the instinctual question of “Who am I with?”, referring to the state of their heart and lungs (chest). This question arises from inner anger and anxiety. Heart and lungs are most intimately connected organs to our environment. Lungs are connected to breathing and lungs could give us basic Awareness of our immediate environment in terms of relationship with others. Meanwhile, our pulses of heart are determined by our basic Awareness between friend or foe. In case of foe, the adrenal organs would automatically respond with fight or flight response to ensure our survival. Living Group’s sense of existence comes from living with others. Their fixation on this is due to trauma with the Father figure, a figure who gives us support and protection in our social environment. They use Analogical Reasoning, an Emotion-based reasoning by comparing and using analogies to cope with the trauma. One way to rationalize emotion is by using analogies and comparison. Coming from hormones of adrenaline and corticoids from adrenal gland, the result of Analogical Reasoning would be emotional by nature, since it is felt “by ourselves” and cannot be directly observed. Thus, the expression of this Reasoning is love and hate, from the loving response from our adrenal towards a friend or hatred towards an enemy. In any case, the adrenal would give Living Group types an inner drive of either push and pull, push towards a friend or pull from an enemy. As they are concerned with their Relation, all Living Group types have Hatred as their Psychic Poison, related to their inner anger and anxiety from not being supported and protected from their Father figure. They deduce that those shortcomings come from unworthiness due to their image. Thus, Hatred as a poison is more about self-hatred for not living up to the perfect image. In P2’s case, Hatred transforms into Envy, developing into Ego-Flattery. Their fixated Domain or area of attention is the Domain of Health and Security. Poison of Envy makes P2 seek every friendship and goodwill in their environment. This is related to the lack of flattery given by their Father figure who “can do anything” for them, diminishing P2’s chances to show what they can do in the process. Lack of proper natural learning makes P2’s expression of love and hate rather excessive; they may easily alternate between caring and manipulating others so the other would flatter them. As stated before, Envy could be understood from the POV of a child that is never given a chance to show what they can do. P2 perceives the person who is supposed to be giving support and protection as “too perfect”. The all-powerful Father controls the environment, diminishing P2 chance to learn about friend and foe or relate to others. As a result, P2 feels overpowered and minimized, with the constant comparing themselves as worthless compared to their Father. Therefore, Envy becomes an envy to everyone else who didn’t experience the diminishment of learning to relate with others. They are unable to live with others and project a mercantile attitude towards the others with the “I serve you and I expect you to do the same for me” aka giving-to-get mentality. By creating adulation and flattery from others with this mindset, they want to attract the attention of their Father; however, they feel incapable of doing so, rendering them excessive in serving others to the point of controlling other people’s Health and Security, ironically becoming their all-powerful Father figure.

THE INDEPENDENT The Independent, point 2, is fixated in the Domain of Health and Security and imagines they can gain the friendship and goodwill of others by being of service to them. This service makes Independents ideal caregivers who can provide security and safety, which is a valuable attribute in their constant endeavor to win the goodwill of others. They can become good instructors and directors in any enterprise. Winning goodwill also involves an inclination toward flattery and the manipulation of people and circumstances. Independents need a cause for putting into action their ability to produce a valuable service for others. Though a servile attitude may be present, they also find solace in the flattery they give and receive.
