Universe is large but not too much: By probability there is much life in this universe. But I'm skeptical about the presence of intelligent life. But from a philosophical point of view the anthropic principle leads to multiverse, and there must be intelligent life in the multiverse. I'm skeptical about whether we will ever meet intelligent life because of Fermi's paradox. I also think the great majority of the universes have to be parallel universes, which definitely excludes every meeting between them, but does not exclude internal meetings, and there must exist a few universes in which there are more "planets" with intelligent life which will meet. But when we talk about parallel universes the concept of "planet" or even "alien" can make no sense (these universes can be totally different from our experience or, more generally, unintelligible for us). So I would restrict the question to the universes which are "similar" to ours. And I believe there must be some where we(they) will meet aliens. Humans: "We're here, we exist!" Aliens:"ok."
