Bloom uses Ne a lot in how he approaches the world: he has a deep fascination for a plethora of topics, especially scientific ones (though he's not very confident of his abilities due to not having a formal education on it). He's constantly looking for the potential of new ideas and sees them everywhere (such as metempsychosis and parallax). Essentially, he's always trying to link his experiences with other pieces of knowledge he already has. He's a very curious man, to whom the fascination with ideas is already a decent end goal, but he's often very confused on how things actually work. It's very different from Stephen (Ni base), who's interested not in merely linking concepts, but obsessed with finding deeper meaning. Bloom is also described as a guy who talks a lot about highly conceptual stuff, he loves discussing scientific concepts and he has a deep and genuine fascination for them. The book only exists as it is because Bloom is Se polr: too afraid to confront Boylan or Molly, always escaping conflict. His Fi is very present, he's very kind and cares a lot about people, his empathy towards Stephen and how far he goes to protect this guy he barely met... everything points to EII.
