Nightmare was a violently unstable bioweapon created by the Galactic Federation on the BOTTLE SHIP. There it was defeated by Samus, but its body was salvaged and relocated to the BSL Research Station. There it was infected by an X-Parasite, and Samus apparently killed it for good.
