Lakshmi General: mechanic, problem-solving oriented, does not like to give up until he fixes something , awkward, friendly, cannot see the potential effects of his actions, jumps into different scenarios I: While Lakshmi is very friendly with many people, he is more focused on his wife and her issues to the point of obsession. Additionally, he exhibits a lack of social cues (a huge theme of the movie was "shame", which he didn't like) such as pushing his product on people who didn't want it, being made a pariah in his village, not explaining his product idea well at the IIT Dehli convention, and not understanding a high five. In ways, he could be seen as autistic. I personally think his intentions were good but just not executed well. S: He shows a grounded mindset with some idealistic thinking. The difference between ISTP and INTP is that the former will usually try to bring their idea into existence, while the latter likes to theorize. His attention to the detail on his inexpensive pad machine pushes the Sensing trait. Initially he started his pad creation idea only for his wife and family. But eventually he saw the bigger picture and wanted to help all of India's women. T: He is a logical person with an emotional reason for making the pads; he loves his wife and doesn't want her to die from using an infected, dirty rag, shame be damned. It doesn't make sense to prioritize one's reputation over their literal life in his opinion. Thinkers are also more likely to problem solve, hence instead of being simply empathetic to his wife, he fixed many issues. I noticed a lot of issues and so did he; the onions made her cry so he created a cutting machine, the bike had no passenger seat so he made one for her. P: It's a bit uncharacteristic of ISTPs to be this stubborn in fixing a super difficult issue, but sometimes when you are passionate you have tunnel vision. He stopped doing his job and exercise to go focus on the pads without much hesitation. He opted to go solo on his endeavors and travel around to get women to try his creations, until meeting Pari. Getting romantically involved with Pari despite having an estranged wife contributes to the reasoning for the Perceiving trait. Additionally he lacked an understanding how big and innovative his machine could be in the industry, though that may be an introvert trait (ESTPs are the entrepreneurial types).
