Sonic.exe is the horror genre of the classic Sonic the Hedgehog series. There are many fan interpretations of the original Sonic.exe like Lord X, Needlemouse, and Xenophanes. It had a huge spike in popularity from the FNF mod but has been around for years. Many people create their own interpretations of the original exe or make completely new ones that have nothing to do with the original like Fatal Error, Mighty.ZIP, or Sink.EXE.
