One of his most defining features is that he manipulates by fear and emotions, knowing what people love and dread, and focusing on external emotions and values (religion and philosophy used to induce MAD in Joseph and Noah) and using it against them to do his bidding. His physical appearance is malleable (4th), both used to appeal to others as Gabriel and to instill fear into them as seen in the jumpscare scene, the only time it's even implied he uses physical force is with Jesus, where he's chained up and this is due to him being unable to be manipulated.
