I think the idea behind Pinterest is 9w1 - calm, structured, organized etc. but the app itself and its users are IxFP 4w5. You can make Pinterest boards based around certain topics and there are always new similar pictures the app suggests to you to fit your personal “aesthetic”. The original concept of Pinterest is to collect ideas and find inspiration but it has developed into an “escape” for type 4s who use these pictures to express their identity, to find similar interests. It’s not really about finding new ideas anymore, it has become a creative way of self-expression, you specifically search for things you relate to and Pinterest finds them for you. Most people relate to images on Pinterest and pin them to express how they feel, who they ARE, and that’s the most 4 thing ever.
