In the US, I'm seeing a disturbing increase in separation between two distinct ideologies that are rooted in our culture and history: liberals, comprised of people who would describe themselves as open, compassionate, and maybe a little idealistic; and conservatives, comprised of people who would describe themselves as cautious, fair, and maybe a little traditional. xNFx vs. xSxJ. West and NE vs. the South. Bold, centralized reform vs. maintenance of the status quo. These groups clash a lot throughout history, but recently both political parties are pushing candidates that claim to represent these just, classic ideologies, yet through their actions they convey the opposite effect. Even on this website, the evidence is mounting that tension between these two ideologies, regions, and personality groups is escalating, with no clear end. I think liberals need to temper radical Leftist ideas to seem less fanatical, and I think center-right conservatives need to take a stand against the far right propaganda machine that fuels white nationalist and anti-intellectual movements.
