he 's an INFJ not an ISFP or INFP. I haven't finished reading the book yet, but there appeared some INFJ traits in him. To begin with, when he gradually grows up, it seems, he accordingly learns how to control himself. when Shatov punched him, instead of losing his temper, he stayed calm and realized that if he lost his temper, there would be complete destruction from him. In addition,after a few apologies that Stavrotin proposed to Gaganov's son(i cant really remember his name) he challenged him in the duel, where we can see, how Stavrogin doesn't want to kill him, despite knowing how bastard or disrespectful character he is(i'm not sure if here appears Fi or Fe function). wouldn't he start a discord against him or something that is related to it or even lost his temper if he were a Fi user, because his convictions were touched for no reason ? I really am not sure about this one. Furthermore, When Tikhon finished reading Stavrogin's letter, we can see how Stavrogin's action shows more Fe, than Fi. In that part, Stavrogin doesn't want to stay true to himself,instead he wants to be accepted by society, he wants to reveal his truth to the society, and he wants Tikhon to forgive him, despite commiting such awful things. He wants to be accepted as how others are. also, he himself, tells that, he must reveal this letter to everyone, no matter what, in order to be acknowledged by people.
