(The Ugly Truth of the Self-Preservation E4) The reason why I find this exchange so poignant is that it truly highlights the underlying self-serving nature of the Self-Preservation E4. Many people associate the SP4 as a "sigma" type that can overcome the odds. However, it is all a mechanism to secure their individual safety and resources .In reality, the SP4 is one of extremely low-self esteem. Remember that the SP4 is a self-preservation instinct dominant *first,* and they need their safety/security guaranteed before anything else. The SP4s facade of being a person capable of performing acts of service, and powering through with tenacity, is simply used as a means to secure love and affection. They lack the self-esteem to love themselves, and so seek the approval of others in order to secure their relationships, which in turn, secures their safety. However, this, in return, creates envy of others (going back to the core E4 requirements). Why is my life so hard, when everyone else seemingly gets things for free? Why do I need to suffer in order to guarantee the bare essentials for myself, whereas everyone receives them without a second thought? Why do I have to go above and beyond, why can't no one accept me for simply who I am? The truth, though, is that the SP4 does it to themselves. Reki was already loved by everyone in the town, but she made the connection of "that love is intrinsically tied to how much I help people, because without that, what is there to love about me?" So the SP4 uses tenacity as a means of bridging that gap, but that need for tenacity and resistance generates envy and dissatisfaction with themselves. The inner child is not allowed to complain, not allowed to have their needs addressed because tenacity requires a never-ending self-demand, but in return, it makes you exceptionally distrustful, envious, and needy to have others accept their service and strength in the midst of their suffering. But it's never enough, but it is a negative feedback loop. The SP4 uses suffering in silence to acquire their needs, because asking for help leaves them far too vulnerable to having their needs potentially rejected, and them being left unsafe. ------------- 𝑰𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒓 𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒍𝒅: "𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒘𝒉𝒚.
