Fe and Se can seem very similar, specially when Fe is coupled with tert Ne. they’re both charismatic and loud and the life of the party. however, they're still different functions and there are many distinctions. Fe is about the others’ feelings, what the group wants/needs above what you want/need. Se is about sensorial experience above all else. while Julian is a character that enjoys living in the moment & having the attention and can be impulsive, that is not the main thing about his character. his main flaw is that he helps everyone all the time yet pushes them away because he’s afraid that he or his life choices will somehow hurt them. Or, as Portia puts it, “always shouldering someone else’s burdens, while lamenting how heavy the load is”. that is not an Se thing, it’s Fe. his main characteristic is how much he cares for other people, how he wants to protect and help them. his character development is learning to let people help him instead of pushing them away & doing his own work and theirs. and while Se for him makes sense, Fi does not. while he has self loathing and wants to be punished for his crimes, having a moral code does not equal Fi; everyone has one. Julian doesn’t prioritize his feelings, ideals or values; it’s never about him, but about the others. he might be charismatic and the life of the party, but that does NOT equal Se. he is the embodiment of Fe dom like c’mon
