I might be the only one who genuinely agrees with her. For different reasons, sure but I agree. If you have the opportuinity to change your sh*tty life then do it. The family (as Verso said) was just as selfish as Maelle. They didn't care about how Alicia hated her life and wanted to escape reality, they only cared about getting their family back especially Renoir. It's also no arguement that the lives of the paintings are not real lives. Like what if some day you have to face the same dilemma? Will you just abandon your life and sacrifice youself just because your life is "not real"? It's very much indeed real for us too. The only thing that confirms Alicia/Maelle endging the wrong choice is that Verso himself wanted to die. The developers wrote this ending a little bit one dimensional which is kind of sad. Maelle's choice felt more like a lesson to not clinge to something that you've already lost while Verso's ending felt like something that you should do. This makes the whole point of the situation guided by the game. Even the conversations make you feel bad for choosing Maelle. :/
