(NWR No.7): A Great Eastern Railway 0-6-0 tank engine; one of several built at Stratford by Mr. Holden for use on roadside tramways, and harbour branch lines. The present Fat Controller met him, as a boy, while on holiday in East Anglia in 1952 and his grandfather was later able to purchase him for use in the Ffarquhar quarry branch when Toby's line in East Anglia was closed. Toby is a tram engine, with distinctive cowcatchers and sideplates that make him seem to glide along the rails of course he does have wheels, underneath! He is often seen with his coach, Henrietta. Toby works on Thomas's branch line, where his experience and calmness make him a valuable source of advice. Toby has proved a very useful acquisition. He is employed on the quarry line at Ffarquhar, and takes workmen's trains down to the harbour at Knapford. His water tank capacity is limited, but with a stop at Elsbridge each way, the 14 mile journey is accomplished easily enough.
