why ennea 5? it always seemed to me his qualms over the course of the show stemmed from a place of frustrations with corruption of those around him…..enneagram 1 is how I interpreted him. his point of contention with kozue (and touga….and probably anyone else that engages in similar patterns to them) was that they didn’t uphold what he believed to be moral purity. on the flip side, he upheld anthy in the belief that she had what he seemed as moral purity and consistently put her on a pedestal (yeesh! not the best judge of character!) moreover, miki has some perfectionism issues. his entire qualm regarding his sunlit garden song was the issue of it not sounding “perfect”…. He runs into a similar problem with his fencing technique, to which he feels defensive when juri tries to assure him that it’s “his imperfections that make him good”. miki is in fact so stuck on perfectionism that he loses sight of the fact that his “shining thing” is IN FACT imperfection, as we learn kozue sucked at playing the piano later on (though, this is of course partially because of utenas overarching theme or rosy retrospection in childhood). miki is puritanical in a way that isn’t commonly seen in type 5s… 5s tend to be very in their heads- and miki doesn’t have an insatiable quest for knowledge in the way a 5 does, and while he is intelligent and recognized as such among his peers I think that’s still very telling of his one-ness. miki is a child prodigy, which i think may be to embellish just how perfectionistic and “morally sound” he is from a writers standpoint.
