A lost soul who spent years in repentance for what he considered to be his barren years. I think he’s rather misunderstood insofar as I don’t really consider his whole life to be an act of rebellion (interpretations by Miller, Camus, etc. popularized this theory). In my opinion, he appears to be someone who had an internal sense of piety that could never quite be explored, given the spiritually dissolute time in which he grew up in. Arthur Rimbaud was without a doubt—a genius. Very bored easily, liked having the proper company around, seemingly didn’t like himself very much, considering how often he gave up on everything he attempted. I know this was hastily written, likely coming off like a diatribe, but the last thing I’ll say is that Rimbaud is to me, as to many others, a great inspiration. We’re all lucky to have been able to read and continue to be inspired by his work and his life. God Speed to a chaotic Angel.
전기
Jean Nicolas Arthur Rimbaud ( or ; French: [aʁtyʁ ʁɛ̃bo] ( listen); 20 October 1854 – 10 November 1891) was a French poet who is known for his influence on modern literature and arts, which prefigured surrealism. Born in Charleville-Mézières, he started writing at a very young age and excelled as a student, but abandoned his formal education in his teenage years to run away from home to Paris amidst the Franco-Prussian War. During his late adolescence and early adulthood he began the bulk of his literary output, but completely stopped writing at the age of 21, after assembling one of his major works, Illuminations.
