Harriet is shy, quiet and calm, puts others before herself. She values harmony and peace, would rather bury her feelings than fighting for them. Harriet was blinded by her love for Mr. Elton, but tries to unlove him and avoids him after he gets married. Harriet isn't intelligent and smart as her friend Emma, which makes Harriet dependant on her dear friend. Be it an opinion or decision, she always relies on Emma's words and advice. She showers her dear Emma with compliments and appreication, no matter how flawed or good her advice is. As long as Emma is there and provides Harriet a solution to her worries and problems, she is happy and grateful to have such a friend.
