"Steve Albini은 어떤 성격 유형입니까? Steve Albini은 mbti의 INTP 성격 유형입니다. enneagram의 5w6 - SX6 - 584, big 5의 RLUEI, socionics의 ILI입니다."

Wow I wrote this whole thing and you guys gave me the top comment, but I’ve changed my mind. 😭 I labeled him an ISTP without having seen any interview footage, but after watching him speak I can clearly see the Ne—the random “that reminds me of” idea jumping. The INTP edglelord behavior should have been obvious, and the holisticness of his sound and approach is better explained by Si. But anyway here’s my old argument: Here was a Ti dom with strong tertiary Ni, not Ne. Yes, he was an outspoken critic of the industry, but what stood out about him was his ideological consistency. He had a specific view of the industry and his role in it. He hated the big suits because he believed they stood in the way of artistic freedom and integrity. He explicitly did not care about his legacy or how he will be remembered, dismissing the question each time he was asked, preferring to focus on the here and now (Se). He simply wanted to continue doing what he does. He saw himself as a facilitator of the artists’ performance, and no more. And he was determined to solve all technical problems BEFORE pressing record, believing that if you can’t get it right the first time, you don’t know what you’re doing. But he didn’t spend ages fretting over this either—he knew the best way to get the sound he wanted, and did. Albini got a visceral thrill from live music that made him a purist, seeking to capture the present moment in all its authenticity. An Ne user in his position would have no problem tinkering with electronics after recording, eager to explore the possibilities that come with studio experimentation. But Albini staunchly believed this would result in a lifeless and artificial product, which he judged most mainstream records to be. His only mission was to capture the real-life experience of music as accurately as he could, and through sheer logical commitment, he accidentally made an artform out of it. The controversial thrills of his own music came from shock value, not theoretical twists and turns. And the way he spoke was so direct and no-BS. This man was an Se user through and through. I do agree that he had inferior Fe—his harsh criticisms of the Pixies and the choice to name his band “Rapeman” can’t be explained otherwise. But being very intelligent and opinionated and wearing glasses doesn’t make him an N-type by default. He was a true ISTP mechanic in the archetypal sense—a technical (as opposed to theoretical) problem-solver who lived inside his work and guarded his freedom with a passion. R.I.P. Steve Albini.
