I just started reading Demian and Emil’s Fi dominance is blinding. He obviously experiences an inner conflict, where he recognizes immoral things as belonging to a “bad” world and moral things as belonging to a good and pure world. Emil’s introverted feeling is what makes him take such an exaggerated and personal approach to this reality. Strong Fi use evaluates everything based on personal ideals and values, which is exactly what Emil does by categorizing people and experiences as only either good or bad. This is a huge contrast to Demian’s Fe-Ti, as he’s much more objective and logical in his analysis. Demian is also obviously much more developed than Emil is, because I’m failing to see Emil utilize his inferior function the way Demian is able to. Emil also fits the aspect of Fi where it attempts to form an inner intensity, as he constantly talks about his desire to find his true self..he even says that the most memorable parts of his childhood are the parts that allowed him to arrive at himself. And I’ll refine this as I read the rest, as I know that Emil doesn't stay an underdeveloped 10 year old throughout the entire novel. And about his enneagram, he almost seems like an unhealthy 1 disintegrating into 4..? Anyway, Hesse using Jungian archetypes in his works makes me go absolutely crazy.
