To elaborate: She is run by the need to prove to others that she is the best mother, she doesn't put others feelings first in the banal way that she sees someone cry and then runs to stop them. No, that Fe doesn't exist, but that infantile way of behaving is shown when she is torn between Ed who is distant, her ex who annoyingly shows up everywhere she is and her new steamy affair with a theater director. She wants to be loved by all of them, not left alone, but she is almost left completely alone in the second season and we see how that "changes" her. Abigail left, Ed is ignoring her now openly, theater director wants the real thing etc. How does she escape that Ti! She comes to the conclusion that she must want to be the "destroyer" not the "destroyee" (i cannot find the actual quote).
