Aunt May’s seems like a pretty one-dimensional character, but I still see more Si than Ni in her character (though I think we can all agree that she’s definitely a Pi dom). She’s focused intimately on her perception of the world based on what she has seen and experienced, her way of engaging people being rather methodical and grounded. The most notable aspects of what Aunt May says in the series are intimate references to her personal experiences, strongly relating situations to aspects of her subjective sensory landscape. Whenever she chats with Peter or gives him advice, it’s always about internalized information about what she has observed in the past, rather than a non-verifiable framework of inference. Such as telling Peter that Uncle Ben “wouldn’t want them living one second with revenge in their hearts” or her constantly making references to how the world operates based on compounded observation. An infamous example being the speech in Spider-Man 2 when she is discussing the nature and value of heroes, and their role in society: “He knows a hero when he sees one. Too few characters out there, flying around like that saving old girls like me. And Lord knows, kids like Henry need a hero—courageous, self-sacrificing people setting examples for all of us. Everybody loves a hero. People line up for them…cheer them…scream their names. And years later, they’ll tell how they stood in the rain for hours just to get a glimpse of the one who taught them to hold on a second longer. I believe there’s a hero in all of us…that keeps us honest…gives us strength…makes us noble…and finally allows us to die with pride, even though sometimes we have to be steady and give up the thing we want the most – even our dreams. Spider-Man did that for Henry and he wonders where he’s gone. He needs him.” This scene lends the best view into Aunt May’s perspective, and I think it demonstrates her usage of Si beautifully. People often attribute inspirational ideologies and philosophy to Ni, but Si is just as, if not more insightful in this regard. As it not only builds an internal framework from patterns and synergy, but constructs its framework on a solid and well-defined bedrock of concrete sensory exposure. May Parker is a character that demonstrates the usage of crafting one’s experiences and turning them into positive mantras much more profoundly than Peter does. And in a way, encourages her nephew to develop his own Si so that he can learn particularly powerful lessons from the past and use them to build a better future. Beyond her more cognitively introverted nature, she’s not all that different from her comic book counterpart, so the Si being coupled with obvious Fe, I'd say that she's an ISFJ. Any actual arguments for Ni?
