Baelor Targaryen MBTI
Sam Spruell, the person who plays Maekar, said the following in the behind-the-scenes segment for episode 2. “Maekar is forever surprised by his brother’s openness and compassion. I don’t think Maekar is that interested in lowly subjects that exist in the kingdom.” Not surprised that a type with Fe trickster (IxTJ) or Fe inferior (IxTP) like Maekarr would have a hard time understanding an Fe dom. While he is of noble character, it’s not pure nobility but something more realistic. He wants to be a good person, but there is some ego involved in being the better person. “He does remember Ser Arlan because he is interested in [legacy]. To some extent, it chimes with his ego. He can remember this man when others can’t. He’s a bit of a trainspotter of jousting.” - Bertie Carvel, the man who plays Baelor. This reminds me of ENFJ athletes, real and fictional, like Nico Rosberg or Oikawa from Haikyuu, who care so much about legacy and being remembered that they study their hearts out, integrating their Ti. I think his tritype has both 3 and 1 in it. I really like how he explains Maekarr’s feelings to help Duncan feel safe, reading the room and Dunk’s situation so clearly. Magnanimous to Arlan rather than punitive. Edit-- In the behind-the-scenes segment for episode 5, Bertie Carvel, the man who plays Baelor, says the following. "He holds [Duncan's] fate in his hand at several moments in the story, and he's got on his mind what the realm needs. And I think in that sense, he is noble." Peter Claffey, Dunk's actor says the following in the same segment. "Baelor went against all his royal responsibilities to defend Dunk for the good and honor of chivalry and knighthood." I think he volunteered for noble reasons that he had real convictions about, but I also think it's possible he volunteered for political reasons. The family was in the Reach for diplomatic purposes--to make the family look good so that there would be no (or fewer) supporters for another rebellion. They don't have dragons anymore, so they really need to build support and consensus in order to maintain their position. Aerion screws that up and gives fuel to the Blackfyre side with what he does to Tansel. Then a prince and several Kingsguard side with the bully. It makes the family look bad, and Blackfyre support songs would likely have been thought up about the incident and sung in places where rebels felt safe--not to mention the rumors that would have further exaggerated things that were already bad. Baelor opting for the other side probably saved the family's reputation a bit, as if to say, "We're not all bad, and I'll protect you from even my own family if I must." I can only imagine how much he struggled internally to live up to his oath as a knight when the consequences were so great and when he could have done the easier thing of not intervening at all. Knowing Duncan's innocence, the idea that Baelor has to be in alignment with who he projects if he's to have any self-respect at all probably also played a role. Ira Parker, in the behind the scenes for episode 5, concludes: "Baelor chooses to do the right thing, and like many people on Game of Thrones who choose to do the right thing, life intervenes as it will."

Curious, commanding, and kindhearted, Baelor is the heir to the Iron Throne, Hand of the King to Daeron II Targaryen, and Egg's uncle.
