Why is Nino typed Eight? I thought it was pretty clear from the start that he was a Three... Type Eights have an ego based on vengeance and a passion of lust. They seek to create intense environments and experience strong sensations, they seek to totally dominate the objective situation. This is what gives them their characteristics of strength, intimidation, and a need for leadership. This does not sound like Nino. Never does Nino get physical, he never threatens Gordon Ramsay in a forceful manner, or try to physically dominate the situation. And thus I don't think Eight fits him. What I think does fit him, however, is ego-vanity and passion of deceit, which is present in the enneagram Three. Throughout the entire episode, Nino has always been saying and doing things which make him look better or more responsible than he really is. He told Ramsay he worked at the restaurant for eight hours a day to clean, that no one else put in that much effort into the restaurant, and even went as far as to show pictures of himself cleaning the place. Also, it seems like this ego based on vanity is not lost on the rest of his family, or even Gordon Ramsay himself. They don't hesitate to call Nino out on his bullshit, saying how he doesn't actually work as much as he says he does, how his incompetence leads to his siblings having to step in, etc. His mother even points out how non-sensical it is to take picture of cleaning, showing how prominent Nino's bullshitting is among his family. Even Gordon recognises Nino's arrogance, saying something which is almost synonymous with Kitchen Nightmares, "You... are in denial."
